“All we are, we are” – Matt Nathanson
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Gandhi
Many times we wonder what it is that sets some teachers apart from others. What is it that some teachers have, that some don’t? Why do we remember so fondly some teachers, and not others? What is that je ne sais quois quality that differentiates the good teachers from the great? And once we know what it is… how do we get it?
That magical ingredient lies not in the outside world, but inside each and every one of us. It is our “inner game”.
Put plainly, it is who we are being. It is not circumstances, education, upbringing, socioeconomic strata, race, color, or creed.
A question to ask is this: “How do I show up in the world?” and then working backward from there, you find it is simply a matter of who you are being… your actions, mannerisms, and habits that form the fabric of what other people see when they are looking at “you”.
How is your inner game? How are you showing up in the world? Welcome to the journey of going from good to GREAT.
